What’s going to make you Happier in 2009?
Sometimes it’s hard to think of just what it is that you can do to improve or what to focus on to make things better.
Here’s an idea to help: if you divide your life up into various categories you can make an easier consideration of how satisfied you are with each one. What categories would you choose? If non easily spring into mind, here’s a list you could consider.
1. Physical
a. Your energy level
b. Relaxation
c. Overall health and well being
2. Emotional
a. Feeling good about yourself
b. Ability to express emotions appropriately
c. General outlook on life
3. Psychological
a. Personal motivation level
b. Ability to learn and develop
c. Concentration and stimulation levels
4. Career
a. Satisfaction with current job
b. Opportunities for progression
c. Recognition
5. Money
a. Income
b. Financial management
c. Sense of having enough
6. Leisure and recreation
a. Range of interests
b. Enough time for leisure
c. Adequate time for relaxation
7. Relationships
a. A special relationship
b. Immediate family
c. Close friends
8. Interpersonal
a. People I can trust and be myself with
b. Feeling valued by others
c. Openness to others values and beliefs
9. Community
a. Contribution to the community
b. Environment (home, neighbourhood, work place)

Once you have decided what areas to focus on. Then it’s time to think how each of these could be better – set your self some attainable goals. Then make plans on how to achieve those goals.
It can be tricky to go through this process your self. Can you enlist the help of a friend? Often an unbiased viewpoint can help and some coaching will help set you on the track you want and help you keep to it, so that you will attain success.
