Tip 3 - The Power of Thoughts

Ralph Waldo Emerson, the great American Philosopher, wrote:
A man is what he thinks all day long.
Your thoughts affect your emotions and your beliefs about yourself; as emotions affect thoughts and beliefs; and beliefs affect thoughts and emotions. If you change one of these three things, because of the connection between them the others will change too. It is quicker and more powerful to change your beliefs because these are your rules for how you judge satisfaction with your life.
To change your beliefs
Firstly, make a list of everything that you believe about yourself in relation to a topic (e.g. health, finances, career, See Tip 1, etc). Split this list into positive beliefs about yourself and negative or limiting beliefs about yourself.
Take each negative or limiting belief you have identified one by one and answer the following questions about it::
The next part of the exercise is to create an opposing positive empowering belief for every limiting belief you have written down.
Finally, for the next three weeks when you are reading newspapers, magazines and books and watching TV, look for evidence to prove your new empowering beliefs. For example, look for stories and cases of other people who are following your empowering beliefs. This will start to give you proof to support your new beliefs.
With any new task or project that you undertake, always ask yourself what you would need to believe in order to succeed with it. If you believe you can do anything you want you will find that you will be much more likely to be successful.
It can be quite tricky to go through this process yourself. An experienced coach can help.
